School Values and Ethos
The School Values
Our pupils are entitled to high standards of teaching that will help them to achieve their full potential in terms of education and independence.
In delivering our curriculum we focus on a range of skills, knowledge and understanding. We aim to:
- Develop children’s ability to communicate so that they become effective, competent and confident communicators.
- Foster children’s ability to build good personal relationships. Develop their self-esteem so that they feel valued and value others. Encourage a positive and caring attitude to others and the world around them.
- Encourage the children’s ability to become as independent as possible and encourage them to take pride in their achievements.
In this way we believe that Valley School will prepare pupils exceptionally well for the next steps in their education.
The Ethos of Valley School
Our philosophy is based on the belief that everyone thrives in an environment which is:
- happy and welcoming
- caring, stimulating and well structured
- provides opportunities for challenge and responsibility
- values all individuals equally
- safe and secure
Our pupils are entitled to high standards of teaching that will help them to achieve their full potential in terms of education and independence.
Each child is unique in his/her learning needs and we aim to meet those needs as fully as possible. The child is at the centre of all we strive to do in school. This means that all staff within the school aim to function as a team and co-operate together to design and implement the child’s teaching programme.
The school has a responsibility to manage resources, both human and financial, so that our aims can be realised as effectively and efficiently as possible.
Valley School believes strongly that parents who have placed their children in the school’s care are our partners. We aim to be open and honest in our dealings with parents, and to encourage their active participation in the school community.
