Links with other schools
Valley School has long enjoyed a variety of inclusion links with other schools in the Stockport borough.
Some of our partner schools send children to Valley to join our classes in shared on-site activities. We know from the comments the children themselves make and the feedback from school staff how much the mainstream children enjoy their visits here and in turn their presence in our sessions gives our children a fantastic opportunity to broaden their social experience.
Some of our children also go out to mainstream primary schools for a session a week, supported by staff from Valley. These sessions are carefully targeted to help our children develop their social or cognitive skills, as identified as a priority for individuals. Where ever possible these sessions take place in children’s neighbourhood schools.
Below are just some of the schools we have sent our pupils to for Integration sessions (click on the images to go directly to their respective websites).
We have fantastic links with Heaton’s Secondary School. A signficant number of our pupils go on to make excellent progress at this school, once they have completed their time at Valley. The Heatons also host a regular programme of joint sporting activities. We often take a mixed age group of our pupils to participate in these events (including the much-loved Boccia tournaments) with a range of other mainstream and SEN schools.
Student placements
The school regularly provides Community Service and Work Experience opportunities for young people from Stockport Schools

Use of Community facilities
We are always looking for ways to extend the breadth of our children’s experiences and make regular use of local community facilities to do so. We are regular attendees at musical events at a number of venues including the Bridgewater Hall and access off-site physical activities such as the cycling group at Wythenshawe Wheelers as a regular PE module. We also swim at Hazel Grove Pool and ride at the New Barns Stables at Chelford.
