We submitted a bid into the Aviva Community Fund Competition in November. We entered our project into the ‘Health, disability and wellbeing category’ and opted to try and achieve an award of value between £5-10k.
Our project is to either revamp or replace the current wheelchair swings, which are currently unfit for purpose and have been out of use for several years.
Success in the first stage of the competition was dependant on how many votes the project received. There were thousands of entries to the competition and over 5 million votes were cast. As a result of all the votes and support we received from staff, family, friends and parents, Valley secured a place in the finals. Further information was then submitted detailing the benefits of the project and costings. In January it was announced that we were one of the lucky winners.
