Leading Parent Partnership Award
We are very pleased to announce that, after a great deal of hard work, Valley School has received the Leading Parent Partnership Award. This is an excellent achievement for the school and reflects just how strong our parental engagement has become during the last few years. We firmly believe that the successes the children enjoy here at Valley do not just stem from what goes on within the school gates, but also the encouragement, love and support they receive at home. Only through parents/carers and the school team working in close partnership can we truly help the children reach their full potential. The LPPA status is really just a confirmation that Valley School has the right framework in place to enable this kind of positive collaboration for each of our pupils. We wold like to thank all of you for the important role you have played in building and maintaining such great communication links between the school and home and your constructive feedback which has helped us to constantly improve our performance in this vital area. The reason we originally decided to aim for LPPA status was because the work we do in school with our parents and families has always been high on our agenda and is part of the ethos of the school. Working towards the award provided us with a framework for developing our practice even further. Following feedback from consultations with our families;
- we made a number of changes to the layout of the home/school books – further refinements to follow in September 16
- we improved home/school communication links by introducing a secure email and texting service so teachers can contact parents directly in addition to using home/school books
- we changed the format for Individual Education Plans (IEP’s) to include things to try at home and strategies to help your child to achieve their targets
It was steps such as these which enabled us to achieve the award. For further information on Leading Parent Partnership, please click on the link below http://www.lppa.co.uk

The Together Trust’s team of family support staff, Together For Families is once again hosting a number of free coffee mornings for parents or carers of children with autism spectrum conditions (ASC) at their central office in Cheadle. They are also able to to get some advice from the experienced staff at the Together Trust and join our autism specific library. The sessions will be hosted by Sue Allison, who is an experienced speech and language therapist and has over twenty years’ experience of working with children and young people with autism and providing advice for families and professionals. Coffee Mornings are planned on the following dates:- Thursday 26th May 2016 (10am – 12pm) Monday 20th June 2016 (10am -12 pm) Thursday 14th July 2016 (10am – 12pm) If you would like more information about these sessions or the Together Trust’s services for children with autism, phone 0161 283 4766 or email Sue.Allison@togethertrust.org.uk
